Loose Leaf Green Tea

Green tea is a special kind of tea that is traditionally not dried out after being picked. The result is a tea rich in antioxidants, which makes it the perfect addition to a healthy diet. If you haven’t heard about antioxidants before, they’re the substance responsible for many important aspects of your health – from the rate at which your cells recover, to the speed of your metabolism. Antioxidants are extremely powerful at giving your body the boost it needs, and you should always make sure you have enough of them in your diet.

What The Stores Usually Sell Us

The “green tea” which you can buy in most grocery stores is usually dried and packed into traditional tea bags. While it’s true that green tea can be prepared with tea bags without any problems, remember what we said in the first paragraph – the entire benefit comes from the antioxidants in the leaves. Take those away, and you’re left with basic green tea with not many healing properties. This isn’t  that bad though, as it still has the great flavor of regular green tea – it just doesn’t do as much good to your body.

Loose leaf green tea is where it’s at if you want to get green tea’s full benefits. If you’re new to green tea culture though, you may experience some problems when you first encounter it in this form – normally, you’d just take the tea bag and dip it in the water for a few minutes. When you’ve got fresh leaves in front of you, however, you may end up wondering what you need to do.

The answer is not always obvious. You need to take the leaves one by one, and dip them individually in the water for a few minutes. Don’t leave each leaf in the water for too long, or it will give the tea a nasty, bitter taste that most people don’t enjoy.

If you want the ultimate green tea experience, you should always look for loose leaf green tea. It may be a bit harder to find, and in most cases – somewhat more expensive. But in the end, it will be more than worth it. You’ll never find all of those healthy ingredients in any store-bought green tea that comes in tea bags – if you want those benefits, you’ll have to go for the best kind of green tea – the loose leaf one.
