Boston Collaborative Drug Surveillance Program

The International BCDSP Symposium on Drug Safety & Pharmacoepidemiology
Le Mas d'Artigny, St. Paul de Vence, Côte d'Azur, France

nice04The history of the annual BCDSP symposium goes back to the early 1980s, a time when few people were publishing research papers in the field of drug safety epidemiology. At this time BCDSP founder Hershel Jick initiated the first drug safety and epidemiology workshop, which took place in an English village in the Cotswolds named Minster Lovell. The four-day meeting was attended primarily by medical directors of drug companies, and more than 20 companies were represented. The Minster Lovell workshop also was an important inspiration for the establishment of the UK General Practice Research Database.

Today the BCDSP symposium has moved to one of the most attractive and inspiring locations in Southern France. The meeting is attended by international leaders in drug safety and pharmacoepidemiology from academia, pharmaceutical industry and regulatory authorities. It is this extraordinary combination of people with different perspectives on the field of drug safety who come together at this exceptional location that gives the workshop its unique and highly interactive character.
